New, modern versions of the classic desktop applications, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote and Skype for Business, are built for maximum productivity. You’ll quickly produce professional documents with rich authoring features, design controls for pixel-perfect layouts and new built in Excel tools will help you get more out of your data, faster and easier. You’ll have access to your docs in the cloud whenever you need them. And with your documents stored online, it’s easy to get your team on the same page. Just share, present and work together on projects with built in team collaboration tools across the suite.  Skype for Business lets you work with others no matter where they are.  Office 2016 also offers new security, compliance, and deployment features, giving organizations more control over sensitive data and IT more flexibility in deployment and management. This release consists of updates to the following products, which will be replacing the existing Office 2013 product SKUs.

Key changes with this release:

  • OneNote will no longer be sold as a standalone application. OneNote 2016 will be included with the Office Professional Plus 2016 and Office Standard 2016 suites.
  • InfoPath 2013 will be the last version of standalone InfoPath.  InfoPath 2013 will be included with licenses for Office Professional Plus 2016. InfoPath Forms Services will continue to be supported in the next on-premises release of SharePoint Server 2016, as well as being fully maintained in Office 365.
  • Lync on-premises product SKUs will be replaced with new Skype for Business SKUs effective October 1, 2015.   These new SKUs represent new versioned offers of the Lync products under the Skype for Business branding.   The L/SA and SA SKUs for Lync, which are always versionless, will not be net new for October. Instead, we will be changing the names of these existing SKUs to reflect Skype for Business.  Legacy media SKUs that need to retain the Lync branding for those on current versions will remain as-is.
Office 2016 suites and applications will include Volume Licensing editions of Language Pack and/or Language Interface Pack and/or Proofing Tools for the required language(s). For O365 customers – Language Packs, LIPs and Proofing Tools have now been released into a single downloadable package called the Language Accessory Pack for Office 2016 for O365. Depending on the language selected, the Language Accessory Pack may add additional display (Language Pack or LIP) and/or proofing tools. Before installing the Language Accessory Pack be sure that Microsoft Office 2016 Preview is installed. For Educational Pricing or questions please call your account representative or email us at

Microsoft Licensing Options for Education

The Academic Volume Licensing program that is best for you depends on the size and type of your institution and how you want to acquire Microsoft licenses and Online Services. There are two types of programs: subscription and perpetual. Subscription licensing Subscription licensing gives you rights to use the products that you license—plus covered upgrades and downgrades—over the license period. Subscription licensing is great for institutions that want:
  • Access to the latest technology at the lowest upfront cost
  • The convenience of counting people or computers once per year
  • Easy compliance by knowing all users or computers are licensed for the year
  • Automatic Software Assurance coverage
Perpetual licensing In perpetual licensing programs, you purchase the software licenses, so your organization has rights to the software after the licensing term ends. Perpetual licensing is great for institutions that want:
  • To own their software licenses
  • Transactional-based purchases of licenses in specific quantities
  • Optional Software Assurance coverage

The following types of educational entities are typically eligible to purchase through Microsoft Academic Volume Licensing programs:
  • Educational institutions
  • Administrative offices and boards of education
  • Public libraries and museums
Eligibility may vary by geography, please contract your Sales Consultant for more information.

Adobe Creative Cloud

We wanted to make sure all of our clients knew about the Adobe Creative Cloud announcement and how it will affect your CLP and TLP licenses. Two years ago, Adobe announced that Creative Cloud was our singular platform for all innovation for creative professionals, and that Creative Suite 6 was our last planned perpetual software release. Since then, nearly 3.5 million paid members have joined Creative Cloud and are experiencing the benefits of continuous feature updates and real time innovation as it becomes available. Adobe is furthering their commitment to deliver software innovation to creative professionals and the education community exclusively through Adobe Creative Cloud. As of February 28, 2015, Adobe will no longer offer Creative Suite 6 through the Cumulative Licensing Program (CLP) or the Transactional licensing Program (TLP) for education customers. This change was already made for the commercial and government segments in May of 2014. CS6 products will remain available for purchase as electronic download on However, these will be individual credit card purchases requiring individual serial numbers, and our expectation is that customers will instead move to Creative Cloud. Acrobat and other Adobe products will continue to be available through the CLP and TLP licensing programs. For more information on how to make your educational purchases on the Cloud contact your Consultant or email us at
